CTSonline allows you to obtain customized tables with estimates from the CTS Household Survey. Here are the basic instructions for using CTSonline, plus an example.

Instructions

1. Construct your table. Indicate what you would like in your table by using the tabs across the top of the page to make these selections:

Topic (required)
Years
Population
– whether to see results for the entire U.S.
population or just a sub-group
Other options
– whether to disaggregate results by a variety of factors, such as insurance coverage and health status

You can make your selections in any order, and you can also go back to modify your selections at any time. You need to select which topic you want, but the three other selections are optional because there are defaults that have been pre-specified.

2. See your table. To create your table, click on the tab "Display Table."

3. Save or modify your table, or start again. Once your CTSonline table appears:

Save. You can save your table by clicking on the link to the downloadable version of the table on the “Display Table” page. From there, you will see a short list of instructions for saving your table.
Modify. You can modify your table by clicking on the tab for the selection that you would like to change, making your changes, and then clicking on the "Display Table" tab again.
Clear. You can start a new table request by clicking on the button "Clear Selections" that appears on the "Display Table" page and then making new selections.

Example

If you make these selections:

Topic = Unmet need for prescription medicines because of cost concerns [2000-01 only]
Year
= 2000-01
Population
=
Elderly (ages 65 and older)
Other options
= Income

Then CTSonline will create this table (plus a second table containing standard errors, not shown here):

CTSonline: CTS Household Survey Results

Year Subgroups within selected population: Income

Unmet need for prescription medicines because of cost concerns [2000-01 only]
Whether there was any time in the previous 12 months that the person needed prescription medicines but did not get them because he/she couldn't afford it.

Percent

Yes  No  Total
2000-01 Low 12.2 87.8

100.0

Middle 7.1 92.9

100.0

High 3.3 96.7

100.0

All 7.8 92.2

100.0

Selected Population = Elderly (ages 65 and older)

How to interpret the results: The estimates in the table represent the percentage of people within each row. For example, this table shows that, among elderly people with low income, 12.2 percent reported having an unmet need for prescription medicines that was due to cost.
